If you heard on TV or from friends about horror cosmetic surgery facelift complications, don't despair. Major complications are rare. Minor complications such as nausea, swelling and bruising are part of the normal process following facelift surgery.

Major complications such as infections are easily treatable with antibiotics and post-operative management. The standard of hygiene, technique has advance considerably with some complex surgery done a decade ago is now refined to a more refine and simpler procedure.

Haematoma is a collection of blood, as a result of internal bleeding during surgery. They are a sack of blood that the body creates to prevent the body from hemorrhaging blood further. It is important before surgery to prevent blood clots from forming up in your body, especially in your legs. Even though you are undergoing a facelift, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can happen and they tend to collect around your leg veins. Make sure you do increase circulation by performing leg exercises or wear tight compression stockings.
