How Much Does A Facelift Cost?

When considering plastic surgery cost, don't be afraid to shop around. It is important to research thoroughly on the type of procedure that you desire, locality of the clinic and the years of experience of the plastic surgeon. All of these factors will have an impact on how much you are going to pay. The more experienced the surgeon, the more you expect to pay.

If you are not sure about the quality of the surgeon, ask the surgeon to show before and after pictures of his/her client or even better, interview the surgeon's former clients.

Facelift operations consist of three fees:

The surgeon's fee

As discussed above, the surgeon's fee will depend on years of experience, specialty of the procedure and the qualifications of the surgeon. It is better to choose a more experienced surgeon to ensure better service and quality of the procedure. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has an average fee of $5,352.

The facility fee

Some clinic will have a holiday or resort type package with their fee. The more luxurious the environment, the more you expect to pay. During your recovery period you have a choice with either staying in a relaxing environment next to the beach or remote area, or choose your local private hospital. The cost of facility fee will range from $500 to $2000 for hospital stay or more if you choose a more luxurious setting.

Anesthesia fee

The cost of this fee will depend how long the surgery will take therefore more anesthesia is applied and the type of anesthesia used. If you're undergoing general anesthesia expect to pay more than performing local anesthesia. The cost in North America starts from $1000 to $1300.

Overall the operation cost will average between $6000 to $15,000. This is just an average, as each face is different. Perhaps your face doesn't need much work done on it compared to someone have very flabby skin and overweight.

If the clinic gives you a specific cost, it usually doesn't include after care cost such as prescription drugs, chinstraps, the loss of days worked, cold packs, and pillows.

In addition, if you want to have other procedures such as chin surgery, skin treatments, nose surgery, it is more economical to have all these procedures in one session. A combination of these procedures will cost you more individually.
